God's Secret Things

Deuteronomy 29:29 says, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."

God Sees ALL things
God's secretive will is His eternal decision about everything! It is secret - we learn about it after it happens but only what He allows us to learn. It is absolute and unchangeable. This revealed will is His declaration of what pleases Him. His thoughts are not our thoughts.....Isaiah 55:8-9, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. (9) “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Many people, including Christians, have questions in abundance about the "why's" of a situation or it's outcome. "Why did this happen to me?" "Why did God do this to them?" "Why would God let.....?" Fill in the blanks. We've all asked those questions, some of those questions and more! And the list goes on. It's not easy to see suffering, especially in someone you love and adore, but sometimes ALL of those questions just aren't for us to receive answers to.....at the time we are asking them of God. If we got all the answers to everything we wanted to know, then we wouldn't need to continue to seek His face, or His truth! Remember, everything is in His time, in His will and in His way! We don't really need to understand the reasons, because He reveals to us only those that we are able to comprehend, to digest and to apply. Everything else? I will quote one of my favorite verses, Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He shall direct your paths."

I have had situations in my own life where I would fall to my knees and scream out, "WHY LORD?" Some things have been revealed to me, because it was in His time and in His perfect will, while others? Well, they remain a mystery. Secret. I don't worry about those revelations because I have grown to know His ways are much better than mine! Things remaining a mystery used to drive me crazy because I love putting the pieces together. I love figuring things out.....I've also grown to know that walking with the Lord, talking to Him and having a personal relationship with Him, helps me to understand that not only does He reveal ONLY what we need to know for our own protection, but also because our minds are so fragile when it comes right down to it, that we wouldn't be able to fully understand all the events that led up to any given situation. We can barely handle a broken heart much less His kind of KNOWLEDGE! Psalm 115:3 “But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.” I am thankful for that too!

God is our Creator! He can have secrets from us simply because we couldn't handle their revelations! I'm OK with that! He wants us to seek out the truth. He wants us to seek out those things which He wants to reveal to us. There are so many unanswered questions in this life that I can only imagine how none of those things are going to matter, or cross our minds, when we are in Heaven, alongside our Creator God and His Son Jesus Christ! When I look at it that way, then whatever He chooses to reveal to me, I'm going to receive it, but what He keeps secret, stays hidden, and remains a mystery. No matter how intelligent we think we are, nor matter how brilliant a mind is born, we will never understand all things. Only our Creator understands it all because just by speaking, things came to life! He is the Great I AM, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End! And He loves you and me so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins!
