Prisoners of the Darkness

Reach for the Light in the Darkness

The prisoners of the darkness are held captive in their bondage to the things of this fallen, evil world. These prisoners thirst for everything that is impure, vulgar, evil, dark, unkind, and full of temporary satisfaction. They are kept in their own mind's dungeon, unable to break free and lacking the Light that is desperately trying to get inside. The prisoners of darkness are bound by this world, bound by the chains that keep them from serving the Lord God Almighty. Satan is their master. Their tempter. Their leader. Their ruler. Their "giver". Satan, however, only wants to destroy everything that is good. He only wants to destroy those prisoners who have been blinded to the TRUTH.

Let's look at some powerful scriptures directly taken from the Bible.

Psalm 107:10-16, "Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Bound in affliction and irons 11) Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High, 12) Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help. 13) Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. 14) He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces. 15) Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 16) For He has broken the gates of bronze, And cut the bars of iron in two."

I was glancing at all of the headlines recently, without much interest in reading the articles, and I saw a very profound, dark, powerful pattern emerge. Evil was the prevalent subject in some form, shape or fashion and it was disturbing. Very disturbing. Yes, I'm well aware of the evil that is abound in this country, and in the world. I've written many posts on this very thing in varying degrees because I know Satan is the "god" and "ruler" of this fallen world. However, these past few months have been quite an eye-opener in that the wickedness and the rapidly growing lack of compassion for life has become the "norm" in the workings of Satan and his minions. He is working overtime to condition the masses to become numb to what we were inherently created to FEEL. Love, compassion, care, tenderness.....those have slowly been replaced and it's a little unnerving. People don't have the same reactions to the all-out evil as they once did years ago. They are complacent. They're comfortable sitting back in their chairs looking the other way, being politically correct, yet, eerily emotionally distant. Tolerance has taken on a new definition but isn't that what Satan wants anyway? To CHANGE the definitions of anything that remotely stood for TRUTH, morals, freedom of speech, religion and the rights of all people? Everything that was good, is now considered bad. Everything bad is now being hailed as good, right and being lumped wrongly in with human/civil rights. I shake my head in sadness and a little disgust at what this world has come to, but more so, how a people allowed it to get this far down in the gutter in the name of "rights and freedom." See, while pushing "rights and justice" down the throats of the masses, they are subsequently taking AWAY those same rights from those that oppose. It's the minority of the people that is beginning to rule because the majority of the people that oppose and have morals are being squashed underfoot as though their opinions were the minority. Oh such a wicked, tangled web that we weave.....

Terrorism, hate crimes, our behaviors have no restraints, lawlessness is increasingly becoming the norm of society, drive by shootings, abortions into late term, mothers killing their own infant children, parents killing their children, children killing their parents, unspeakable violent crimes are being committed towards other human beings and animals as well, unimaginable torture full of rage being played out right before our eyes on every street corner, increasing dependency on alcohol and drugs to self-medicate, our youth killing other youths and adults, inconsideration of neighbors, elderly abuse, violently attacking and becoming more aggressive than ever before, inhuman and inhumane behavior is becoming the normal and accepted behavior, we have run completely amuck having no restraints. Why? Well, really there's only this explanation; it's because there is no law, no real accountability, it’s lawlessness. The more tolerance that is shown today the less morals we have in a society that isn't being taught the morals of days gone by. There is a relationship between the two, no standard and anything goes. Genesis 6:11-12, "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth." People are turning to violence to vent their personal frustrations, to right a perceived wrong and lacking skills to handle it any other way. Sad, but true. We are living in a society full of rage from the belly of a demonic stronghold. We are living in a society that is selfish, self-centered and only cares about themselves. There is an increasing of a total disregard for life, in all forms, that permeate our culture, including the video games our children, and youth, are being raised on, the television shows have increased their "shock value" because what used to be shocking to see, isn't so much any longer so they take it to the next level. The Hollyweird movies do the same thing.....extreme violence, role reversals, a sense of depravity that goes beyond what even our human minds can truly comprehend. They hint at such horrendous acts of violence, sexual deviance, all out perversion and they call it something "fluffy" to fool the masses. Accidental? I think not. This is all orchestrated by Satan himself. He has a short time to destroy everything God Almighty created for good!

In Luke 17:28-29, we are told clearly, "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29) but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all."  What exactly were the days of Lot like that needed this kind of judgment and devastation? Well, let's look at Genesis 13:13, it tells us, "But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD." In the days of Lot, the people gave themselves over to blatant sexual, perverted sin. They were homosexuals and adulterers and they engaged in anything their wicked hearts desired because it was what they chose to do. Lawlessness abounded everywhere you looked, everyone did whatever they felt like from their own evil heart without any moral thought. They did exactly what they wanted to obtain the "feeling of temporary satisfaction" that it offered. It became a normal, everyday thing in their cities to live in this manner. You see, the source of violence comes from the very one that was once very close to God, Lucifer. Ezekiel 28:16, "By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones." This verse speaks of Satan who was then cast as a profane thing from the mount of God. He was "filled with violence." But, before, he was perfect in all of his ways until sin was found in him, the sin of pride. Violence is the physical exhibition of pride. Most people want to argue that point but it's fact. Pure and simple. How do we know this? Psalm 73:6, "Therefore pride serves as their necklace; Violence covers them like a garment." 

Light WILL Overcome the Darkness

One can truly recognize that we are living in a society that's self-dependent, self-centered and self-righteous. It's a society that its self-engrossed pride is expressed primarily through violence. Our society has reached the time that can be, or IS, ripe for judgment. Proverbs 4:17-19, "For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence. 18) But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. 19) The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble." We have the fruits of our labors today from sowing the wicked seeds of discord for years. Proverbs 21:7 tells us, "The violence of the wicked will destroy them, because they refuse to do justice." There's a spiritual war going on and it's increasing in its intensity. It's been on the increase as Satan's hosts find their unruly expression through the ungodly people willing to to do his violent works, diligently working through the sons of disobedience. While God wants to bring order, peace and life, Satan comes to steal away any good, righteous thing. He steals and kills. And makes prisoners of the darkness. This is what God has to say about this violence in Psalm 11:5, "The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates." The youth of today doesn't have to fear going to war on foreign soil as other generations did, nor do their parents have to worry or fear watching their children being called to war in a foreign soil. If this occurs, it's by voluntary choice of signing up with the military forces, not being in a draft. But see, something else is happening right here on our own soil that is eerily similar to a war, increased car accidents, suicides, homicides, drug-induced psychosis and overdoses, drive by shootings, settling "scores" through violence is all happening right in front of our faces! We can thank our western education of science for some of this, by telling our children they are accidents of nature from the process of evolution. To a Christ believing, God fearing Christian, that is just ludicrous! Without God there is absolutely NO hope. NO purpose. We quickly become empty souls in a very hollow shell. Humanism has failed miserably as we see the post-Christian America going deeper into the pits. We are hovering close to suffocation and finding it increasingly harder to swim in the muddied water. No hope, so why live, hence the only alternative is death and killing. Proverbs 13:12 "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick."

We are living in an age of "anything goes." If it feels good, then do it. If it's OK for you, then it's OK for all. If it feels RIGHT and NORMAL to you, then by all means, it's going to need to be shoved down the throats of everyone else who is in opposition to it. I'm being facetious of course. Same sex marriage will open the flood gates of everything sinful, perverted and obscene to be made "law" in the name of "tolerance" and "acceptance" and "civil/human" rights. There is a battle raging right now for transgender people to be able to use the bathroom of their CHOICE depending on what gender they decide to identify with. This is caustic and dangerous. This, if it gets passed nationwide, will open the doors for the "pedophiles" to enter into bathrooms posing a safety risk to our young children, and youth, as well as posing a safety risk to the adult women to become easy "prey" for the predators that will undoubtedly show up in these bathrooms. There is no way to determine who is or isn't "transgender" or a rapist or a pedophile or a predator which makes this much more devastating than what they are portraying on the surface of this argument. My opinion of the transgender community is biblical and is the worst form of self-mutilation around. They are confused, conflicted and just as much in need of a Savior as any other sinful person. They are tormented and full of self-hate. For those who just choose to "live their lives" as another gender without gender "reassignment" it's just as harmful. This topic will be written about later on, but know, this movement along with the LGBT movement, is fueled by the fires of Satan in direct opposition to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and our Creator God! God is not in the middle of these tragedies, causing this confusion. He doesn't make mistakes in His creation. If that offends you, I'm sorry but I won't apologize for what I believe and for what God SAYS clearly. I will apologize that you do feel the way you feel - offended. But if you are truly able to see these things as normal and can equate them with civil rights and human rights and so on, then I ask that you go before the Lord and pray for His wisdom to flow through you.

There are so many problems ready to come down the pike because of a people in a strong nation cow-towing to the minority of people yelling "freedom" and "civil rights" that I'm very concerned. I'm an adult and I don't want to share the bathroom with another adult of the opposite sex, much less feel comfortable that an adult of the opposite sex will be sharing a bathroom with a CHILD. These laws that are including these types of sins into our culture are NOT discriminating against the minority....but it IS harming the majority! It won't stop with the bathrooms. It will go on to the dressing rooms and anywhere else gender is separated for a REASON! See, if you watch the headlines, you'll begin to REALLY see the problems sneaking in. They start slowly, just as it has for the past 20 years, and it will increase until everyone "accepts" it as the norm. Joshua 24:15, "And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Here are just some of the topics in the headlines and articles that have graced the news of late, say in the past few months or so. I'm going to pull direct headlines as well as a briefing of subject matter for those articles that don't give hints to the subject. Some were a little too disturbing to mention but the ones selected below are disturbing ENOUGH to show the decline in humanity!

1) Man rapes and kills an emotional supports service dog for killing his iguana
2) Man rapes, strangles and dumps the body of a 14 MONTH OLD BABY on a river bed after taking bleach to wipe her down for DNA traces
3) 18 year old brutally and repeatedly beats, tortures, shatters bones and teeth, starves his 2 year old dog, vet states it is the worst case of animal cruelty ever seen.
4) Incest is now being called "Genetic Sexual Attraction" and is called "normal" (under the guise of a parent giving up child for adoption early then reuniting later in adulthood.)
5)  New York Methodist "church" allows homosexual minister to be ordained and serve.
6) Occult abuse of our children needs to stop - a rise in occult abuse has been recently observed, officials are alarmed
7) Planned Parenthood caught dumping and disposing aborted babies into trash landfill
8) Gender Identity Curriculum angers parents in Virginia
9) Atheists go to court to have "In God We Trust" removed from American currency

I know the list was a little lengthy but I did that for a reason. We need to see what's going on around us, we need to FEEL what is becoming the norm. We must seriously dig deeper into the TRUTH of where this is all heading and more importantly, who it's coming from! When the USA legalized same sex marriage this too opened up Pandora's box for all kinds of "groups" that feel they qualify for the same "civil rights" as same sex marriages, the LGBT communities, and so on. If they are attracted to a family member, they will eventually fight to make that legal. If they are attracted to animals, they they will fight to make that legal. It's not going to stop. This is the natural progression of Satan in his scheming of deceptions. Satan is winning his ruling on earth because he is making God and His word "discriminatory, hateful, and outdated" to all those who reject Jesus! His days are numbered though and unfortunately, there are so many who are following the devil and his minions right into Hell! Satan doesn't want residents for his own pathetic, burning kingdom. He wants PRISONERS! Prisoners, by definition, are persons that are captured and kept confined by an enemy or opponent. A person who is captured and bound by the enemy, in a place of no escape. Now, just looking over the above headlines and/or subject of the headlines, one must look deeper into the depravity of the minds of the individuals committing such atrocities against human kind and animals alike. I am not, in no way, equating the life of animals the same as the life of a human, however, it's a LIFE nonetheless and we are commanded to care for our animals! Abuse of animals is indicative of how a young child will grow up. Many violent offenders abused animals, progressively, when they were young. There has been much research and connections between the two. But just the fact that a human could willfully, conscientiously, and hatefully abuse, torture, mistreat and/or kill a helpless animal says alot about their mentality to start with. It's very disturbing to know these thoughts and actions come to the minds of some of the most heinous individuals walking the earth. If you disregard the life and comfort of an animal/pet, you WILL disregard the life and comfort of a human being!!!

I'm starting with the animal abuse for a specific purpose. I'm going to spend just one more paragraph on the abuse of animals to complete the connection of human cruelty to the animal abuse. I'm not saying everyone who disregards the life and comfort of humans start out as abusing animals, but it's been proven that the majority of hardened criminals and habitual abuses, have at some point, abused/tortured/killed animals. Somewhere, somehow, the thought of blood, torture, death gets planted in the minds of the perpetrators or predators and eventually they obey the prince of darkness and carry out some kind of heinous abuse against the animal. This "thirst" then can't be contained and eventually needs more to fuel their desires and graduates to humans. Their ultimate "game." It's also here that I will note boldly that how someone treats an animal is very much indicative of how they will treat another life, another living human being! Let's say someone has a penchant for roughing up an animal, going too far with discipline, harming the animal but not going all the way into the torture or killing. You will see a pattern of the same kind of "emotional or physical" abuse towards another person very clearly. It's rare that an abuser of humans aren't abusers of animals too. It takes a specific kind of individual to harm anything living for pain or pleasure. It is a predictor of many mental issues/illnesses and demonic oppression and/or possession. A normal, healthy mind does NOT think about those kinds of things much less do them! This is why I'm mentioning the two together. There's alot of research on this subject that connects the two, so if you want to see more about it, do a google search and select your articles wisely!

If your mind and thoughts are filled with darkness, eventually your actions will also be filled with evil. If your mind and thoughts center around the darkness and they are appealing to you more than the light and the good, then you can be certain you have become one of the prisoners of the darkness. If you are bound to the dark and the evil side of life, Satan is your "god" and "ruler" of this life. Being a prisoner isn't a very fulfilling, joyful life or experience for that matter. It's cold, damp, empty, isolated, full of rot and worse still, it's a bondage that can't be broken unless it's through the freedom of the shed blood of Jesus Christ! It appears to me there have been many more prisoners captured through the spiritual attacks on the unsuspecting than ever before. It's beginning to look like whatever goes, becomes law. It seems nothing is right or wrong, good or evil or differentiated by the word of God. Instead, everything has taken on new forms, new shapes, new meanings and we're now living in a much more confused world, self medicating, self-mutilating, self-harming, self-satisfying, and full of selfish pride to the death of a nation. These are dark times. Dark days. Dark, evil abounding. In the absence of Light, there is darkness. Darkness can't survive if there is Light shining into it! Those prisoners of darkness are surviving temporarily because the Light hasn't been allowed to penetrate their souls, their lives, or their hearts! Oh but when it does.....Come, Lord Jesus, Come!

The storm clouds seem to be gathering closer and quicker in the distance, some extremely dark. We're now beginning to see the days of Noah again, permeating our nation, our world, when men’s hearts and the earth will be filled continually and unabashedly with violence, evil and outright rage. We all have violence in the heart apart from the new birth, apart from being reborn into Christ Jesus our Savior. Only the TRUE Gospel of Christ can, and will, be the modern ark of safety. The very ark of safety we all should desire, but only some will find. Some won't want to give up their fleshly desires, wants or cravings. They seek what is temporal and only here for a moment in time. The Gospel of Jesus Christ needs to be proclaimed clearly and loudly, we may be close to the end of Noah’s 120 years. Job 27:8-9, says, "For what is the hope of the hypocrite, Though he may gain much, If God takes away his life? 9) Will God hear his cry When trouble comes upon him?" We live in a world chalk full of infinite choices and opportunities. Not every choice is a good and wise choice and not every opportunity is a good and healthy opportunity. You can't serve the world, and serve the Lord at the same time so making wise choices will lead to healthy opportunities! If you choose the path of self-centeredness and selfishness, you will walk away empty, full of darkness and unfulfilled. When Jesus is out of the picture, when God has been denied, so much else goes right out of the picture with Him! Joy goes. Love, peace and kindness goes. Self-Control goes. Self-control is a key to the darkness being overtaken by the Light! If there is no self-control, then anything goes. Whatever you feel is right for you at the time, then you've given yourself the OK to partake in whatever it is! There'll be no need for self-restraint if self-control is gone, it will be a free for all. Willpower won’t prevail but chaos will and what a dangerous, vile, evil world we will live in when self-control is unimportant, non-existent or just totally repressed. Everything will go once Jesus is gone and what a terribly cold, dark, empty, but chaotic place we will be left with.

Not a Prisoner Anymore!

See, my dear readers, we are heading in this very direction of anything goes. When nobody opposes, then anything WILL go! The voices of the opposition are being squashed! Bones are crushing. Christians are the ones being silenced because Satan has the world believing we are the problem. Satan condemns the Bible as being "old and outdated" for this day and age. He deceives the masses. So we can't oppose much anymore. It's all part of God's bigger plans though, this much I do know! The world is going mad! Night is day, day is night. Good is bad, bad is good. Black is white, white is black. All you have to do is look around, and not too far, to see how our modern society seems to condone the exact opposite of Christian principles: Grab yours first. Don't worry about the other guy. Do whatever you have to to get to the top. Lie, cheat, steal your way to success. Making, having and spending money in today's world seems to be the most important thing in most people's lives, no matter how it's made, or what it takes. Having sex with as many people as you want, with as many different genders as you want, and with as many fetishes/role-playing/masochistic as you want to be. It's being conveyed to us through every channel available to humans, internet, telephone, television, movies, music that we don't need to be concerned about other people's feelings, or their personal well-being. We're being told and conditioned to believe that the poor are lazy, uneducated people who don't really want to work. We're being conditioned and told that there's no god, heaven or hell, so we can just live it up and do whatever you please. That, unfortunately, is what millions of people believe.

The anything goes mentality is not just limited to the vile perversions and insidious violence mentioned above but it also crosses over into the "new age" mentality. I think of Oprah here and her "fluffy" universe driven "all things are god, god is in all things, all paths lead to god" joke of a "teaching." It's frightening just how many people follow her, believe every word she says, and how many she is leading right down the path to hell right along with her. She is a "new" everything kind of a person. But just a reminder, there is NOTHING new under the sun! Ecclesiastes 1:9, "That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun." She teaches and in many ways "falsely preaches" about the many religions that she places of more importance above Christianity. I say "falsely preaches" because she too has many stakes in the "religion" ministry by partnering with a false teach, Rob Bell, alongside Eckhart Tolle and has cozied up with many other "new age" gurus. She helped Dr. Oz shoot to stardom and sides with part of his religion, Muslim, as well as the spiritually damaging Yoga and meditation! Keep in mind that the "anything goes" mentality is exactly that, a mentality. It says, anything you are, is OK. Anything you feel is OK. Anyone you claim to be is OK. Or to put it this way, "You are OK just as you are, doing as you wish, saying what you will." No right or wrong. No accountability. No hope. No love. No Savior. When there is a mixing of religious "thoughts and values" it strays GREATLY away from the WORD of GOD! It becomes directly oppositional in what it is trying to accomplish. Mixing religions, calling them all "true and good" is Satan's way to deceive, to pull people away from seeking out the real TRUTH that convicts and grows and loves unconditionally. All paths do NOT lead to God and all the different "gods and idols" are NOT the same as our God the CREATOR. They argue all are the same but just named differently. SERIOUSLY?! No. A lie from Satan himself!

John 1: 1-5, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."

The ONLY way to prevent the darkness from overtaking your life is to become a child of Jesus Christ, to receive Him as your personal Savior! The ONLY hope of not becoming a prisoner of the darkness is to receive the Light that shines INTO the darkness! Light is triumphant over darkness! God is seeking RESIDENTS for His kingdom! He is not taking hostages like Satan is doing by gathering up all the prisoners so they can remain in the darkness for all eternity! When John says, in verse 5 above, that "the light shines in the darkness," he literally means that the Word has become flesh. Jesus has come into a dark world and IS the Light of the world. The darkness is the world of evil and unbelief and death and judgment. John 3:19, " And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." See how the darkness is the power of evil and unbelief?  John 12:36 says, "While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them." When you truly believe in Jesus Christ, not only do you leave the darkness and enter the light; you also actually join the family of the Light, becoming children of the Light. Ephesians 5:8 says it clearly, "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light." 

When justice seems to get divorced from morality, when the rights of individuals are severely separated from the right and wrong of things, then the only definition you have left for justice is simply the right for every individual to do as he pleases. Anything goes. And remember, at the end of that road is anarchy and barbarism and evil and chaos and free-for-all's. Right now, this very moment, it may appear to be going smoothly for all of those who are rebellious against Jesus Christ, or who are rejecting His free gift of Salvation. On the surface, that's just what Satan wants you to see...and ultimately believe. However, internally, there is a raging spiritual war going on, a battle like no other! The darkness will NOT prevail. Jesus has overcome and Satan has been defeated! People, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, the lost, the searching.....please turn from the darkness and allow the Light to shine inside! Let Jesus into your life! Don't be a prisoner of the darkness when you can be a beacon of Light and a resident of Heaven! I invite you now, right here, right now, to admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, believe on Jesus Christ who was born of a virgin, died on the Cross and shed His blood to pay our sin debt in full, died and rose three days later! Receive Him and His free gift of Salvation and the darkness will go away! He's waiting on you....and He's knocking at your heart's door!!! Won't you answer the door!?!
